French Photojournalist Anthony Lallikan Killed in Russian Drone Strike in Donetsk Region

French photojournalist Anthony Lallican was killed near Druzhkivka in Ukraine’s Donetsk region as a result of a Russian FPV drone strike.
Ukrainian journalist and photographer Hryhorii Ivanchenko, a member of the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers, was also injured.
The loss was reported on October 3 by Ukraine’s 4th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade, which stated that both journalists had been wearing protective vests clearly marked with the word PRESS.
“In a targeted strike by an enemy FPV drone, French photojournalist Anthony Lallican was killed. Journalist and photographer Hryhorii Ivanchenko, working alongside him, was injured. His condition is stable,” the brigade’s statement read.
French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed the death, expressing condolences to Lallican’s family, colleagues, and the wider journalistic community.

“I learned with deep sadness of his death, a victim of a Russian drone attack,” he stated on X, posting in both French and Ukrainian.
Earlier, it was reported that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) launched a new annual initiative to honor war correspondents and journalists, titled “Victory for Victoria.”
