German Government to Reportedly Stop Publishing Arms Supply Lists to Ukraine

The new German government has decided to significantly limit the release of information regarding future arms shipments to Ukraine.
This was reported by Spiegel on May 9, citing dpa and Tagesspiegel.
“The German government will significantly reduce communication regarding the delivery of weapons systems in the future,” the dpa news stated, quoting government sources.
The primary goal is to “deprive the aggressor of a military advantage in the war in Ukraine.” This move is stated to be part of a “wartime strategy” aimed at reducing public discourse about arms supplies.

Spiegel noted that it is likely that the government website will no longer publish a list of military equipment supplied by Germany.
In this way, Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s new government has opted to return to the approach used at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, when, for about four months, there was little reporting on aid shipments, the outlet added.
On April 13, it was reported that Merz signaled his willingness to provide Ukraine with long-range Taurus cruise missiles, marking a potential shift in Berlin’s military support as Kyiv continues to press for more high-precision weapons to hit deep into Russian-held territory.
