Germany Announces Major Military Aid Package for Ukraine, Including Leopard Tanks, Air Defense, and Drones

Germany has unveiled a substantial new military aid package for Ukraine, aimed at bolstering its defense capabilities. According to a recent update on the German Federal Government’s official website, the delivery includes a range of advanced military equipment and supplies.

The package comprises 15 Leopard 1 A5 tanks and 2 Gepard tanks, alongside 30 Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles with mine protection. Additionally, it includes a PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer, 12 armored vehicles equipped with kinetic defense systems, and 7 Caracal assault jeeps.

Germany is also supplying Ukraine with advanced air defense systems, including IRIS-T SLM and IRIS-T SLS missile systems, along with missiles for these systems. The delivery further includes 2 Patriot systems, 2 TRML-4D radars, and munitions for Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 tanks.

In terms of drones, the package includes 30 Vector drones, 24 RQ-35 Heidrun drones, and 14 Hornet XR drones. Furthermore, Germany is providing 5 AMPS helicopter self-protection systems, 45 diving scooters, and 12 Zetros trucks, along with 8 Zetros fuel tankers.

The aid also consists of small arms, including 120 grenade launchers, 200 MG4 machine guns, 420 MK 556 rifles, 80 HLR 338 sniper rifles, and 100 CR 308 rifles. Additionally, Ukraine will receive 52,000 155mm shells, and guided missiles, including AIM-9L/I-1 Sidewinders.

The package is rounded out by essential support items such as generators, tents, tourniquets, small arms ammunition, 120mm mortar shells, mines, and demining equipment.

Earlier, Germany announced the delivery of 4,000 HX-2 “Mini-Taurus” drones to Ukraine. These advanced loitering munitions, equipped with AI-driven targeting and swarm coordination capabilities, are designed to enhance Ukraine’s defense by targeting military assets such as armored vehicles and artillery at extended ranges.
