German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, speaking at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin on June 11, reiterated that Germany’s stance on training Ukrainian soldiers within Ukraine remains unchanged.

Previously, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has stated that German troops will not be deployed to Ukraine. Pistorius made this clear during government hearings in the Bundestag on Wednesday, June 5.

During the press conference, in response to a journalist’s inquiry, Scholz emphasized Germany’s ongoing support for Ukraine in various domains, such as air defense and the training of Ukrainian soldiers on German soil, affirming that “nothing changes in that regard.”

The Ukraine Recovery Conference is being held in the lead-up to Summit on Peace for Ukraine, which will take place in Switzerland on June 15-16. According to Switzerland’s president, nearly 90 countries and organizations have confirmed attending the summit.
