Germany Prepares Classified Defense Plan for Potential Military Conflict, Politico Reports

Germany has prepared a classified national defense strategy in the event of a military conflict, Politico reported on December 30, citing internal sources.
The document, known as the Operational Defense Plan (OPLAN), outlines scenarios including cyberattacks, sabotage, and disinformation as potential precursors to full-scale war.
The plan underscores the increasing importance of proactive threat identification and coordination across government agencies.

In the event of a NATO-level conflict, Germany is expected to serve as a logistics hub and transit corridor for allied forces—positioning it as a likely early target for strikes on both military and civilian infrastructure.
According to the report, the current phase focuses on identifying threats, aligning interagency coordination, and strengthening logistical readiness.
