Germany Ramps Up Military Aid to Ukraine, Delivers MRAPs, Mine-Clearing Tanks, and High-Tech Radars

Germany has significantly expanded its military support for Ukraine, delivering a fresh shipment of weapons, vehicles, and humanitarian supplies over the past four weeks — with even more advanced air defense systems and drones on the way, according to an update from OSINT tracker German Aid to Ukraine on April 17.
The latest deliveries include hundreds of drones, anti-tank weapons, armored vehicles, surveillance systems, and thousands of artillery shells.
It also includes 4 Kinetic Defense Vehicles (KDV), a new product of the German defense industry. It was first presented less than a year ago, in February 2024, at the Enforce TAC exhibition.
The KDV is based on the chassis of a Mercedes-Benz G pickup truck, which is equipped with a remote-controlled Slinger (R400S) turret from the Australian company Electro Optic Systems with a 7.62×51 mm minigun.

The Kinetic Defense Vehicle is a good solution in the field of localized UAV warfare. A high-density minigun combined with an EchoGuard radar and an optoelectronic station can effectively neutralize both reconnaissance and attack drones.
Among the newly delivered equipment:
4 Kinetic Defense Vehicles
150 HF-1 loitering munitions (suicide drones)
70 Vector UAVs
10 Sonobot 5 unmanned surface vessels (USVs)
3 Zuzana 2 self-propelled howitzers
66 MRAP armored vehicles from FFG
6 Bergepanzer 2 armored recovery vehicles (ARVs)
4 WiSENT 1 MC mine-clearing tanks
2 mine ploughs
3 border protection vehicles
917 RGW90 anti-tank rocket launchers
41 ground surveillance radars
3,769 G3 rifles and 800 MK 556 assault rifles
38,000 rounds of 35mm HEI-T ammunition for Gepard and Cheetah anti-air systems
Ammunition for Leopard 2 main battle tanks
1,000 122mm shells and 27,000 155mm shells
92 infrared binoculars and 187 laser range finders
150,000 tourniquets and 1,300 sleeping bags
55 underwater scooters
Spare parts for armored recovery vehicles
Germany has also quietly begun supplying IRIS-T SL missiles, though the number remains undisclosed.

In addition to the delivered hardware, Berlin has pledged even more in the coming weeks, particularly in the realm of air defense and surveillance:
4 IRIS-T air defense systems
120 Igla MANPADS (man-portable air-defense systems)
316 more Vector UAVs and 30 RQ-35 Heidrun reconnaissance drones
1,100 additional ground surveillance radars
300 more IRIS-T/IRIS-T SL missiles
30 Patriot missiles
Earlier, Germany’s next chancellor signaled his willingness to provide Ukraine with long-range Taurus cruise missiles, marking a potential shift in Berlin’s military support as Kyiv continues to press for more high-precision weapons to hit deep into Russian-held territory.
