Europe’s leading defense technology company announced the production of 6,000 HX-2 strike drones for Ukraine, German company Helsing reported on February 13.

This follows a previous order of 4,000 HF-1 strike drones, which are currently being delivered in collaboration with Ukrainian industry. With this new batch, Helsing solidifies its position as one of the world’s largest strike drone manufacturers.

Unveiled in late 2024, the HX-2 is an electrically propelled, X-wing precision munition with a range of up to 100 kilometers. Its advanced onboard AI ensures full resistance to electronic warfare.

When integrated into Helsing’s Altra reconnaissance-strike software, multiple HX-2 drones can operate in coordinated swarms, all controlled by a single operator. Designed for mass production at a significantly lower cost than traditional systems, the HX-2 fills a critical capability gap in modern land warfare.

Alongside the new drone production, Helsing also announced the completion of its first Resilience Factory in southern Germany. These high-efficiency facilities are designed to give European nations localized, sovereign manufacturing capabilities. The newly operational RF-1 factory has an initial monthly capacity of more than 1,000 HX-2 drones.

Helsing plans to expand these factories across Europe, enabling mass production at scale in case of future conflicts.

Gundbert Scherf, co-founder of Helsing, emphasized the urgency of scaling production:

“We are ramping up HX-2 manufacturing in response to additional orders from Ukraine, where precision mass is countering a numerical disadvantage in legacy systems every day. NATO must learn from this—quickly. With our Resilience Factories, we are decentralizing mass production across Europe, allowing nations to maintain sovereignty over manufacturing and supply chains.”

Earlier, reports emerged that Germany will deliver around 100 guided missiles for IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine.
