On May 27, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev responded to recent remarks by US President Donald Trump, who criticized Russian leader Vladimir Putin over the ongoing war against Ukraine.

In a post on the platform X, Medvedev wrote:

“Regarding Trump’s words about Putin ‘playing with fire’ and ‘really bad things’ happening to Russia. I only know of one REALLY BAD thing — WWIII. I hope Trump understands this!”

Trump’s comments came after several days of intensified Russian strikes on Ukraine. He warned that Putin was escalating dangerously and said that under different leadership, Russia might have already faced “truly terrible” consequences.

Previously, it was reported that the Institute for the Study of War estimates that at the current rate of territorial advances and personnel losses, the Russian military would require approximately 91 years to secure the area proposed as a “buffer zone” by Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
