Trump Slams Putin Over Massive Russian Airstrikes on Ukraine: “What the Hell Happened to Him?”

US President Donald Trump criticized Russian leader Vladimir Putin on May 25 over the bombing of Ukraine, saying, “What the hell happened to him?”
He made the remarks to reporters at Morristown Airport while returning to Washington, according to Reuters.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with him. What the hell happened to him? Right? He’s killing a lot of people. I’m not happy about that,” Trump told reporters at the airport in Morristown, New Jersey.
Trump’s statement comes after two consecutive nights of large-scale Russian attacks on Ukraine.

Trump also raised the possibility of imposing additional sanctions on Russia in response to the ongoing attacks.
“Always gotten along with him, but he’s sending rockets into cities and killing people, and I don’t like it at all,” he said.
Additionally, in a statement responding to recent Russian attacks on Ukraine’s capital, US envoy Keith Kellogg condemned the nighttime strikes that killed civilians, calling them a violation of international law.
This is Kyiv. The indiscriminate killing of women and children at night in their homes is a clear violation of the 1977 Geneva Peace Protocols designed to protect innocents. These attacks are shameful. Stop the killing. Ceasefire now. pic.twitter.com/89XRWZcP21

On Truth social media, Trump expressed the same criticism toward Putin.
“He is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I’m not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot into Cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever. I’ve always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia!”
However, in subsequent remarks, Donald Trump criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stating that Zelenskyy “is doing his country no favors by talking the way he does.”
“Everything out of his mouth causes problems. I don’t like it, and it better stop,” Trump wrote.

Zelenskyy had earlier responded to a Russian overnight assault on Ukraine, saying that the “Silence of America, silence of others around the world only encourage Putin.”
In the early hours of May 25, Ukraine endured one of the most intense air assaults of the war, as Russian forces launched 367 drones and missiles across multiple regions, killing 13 people and injuring more than 60 others, including several children.
The day before, on May 24, Russia launched 14 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and around 250 drones across Ukrainian territory.
