Russian 367-Missile and Drone Barrage on Ukraine Kills 13 People, Injures Dozens

Ukraine was hit by one of the most intense air assaults of the war in the early hours of May 25, as Russian forces launched a devastating wave of 367 drones and missiles across multiple regions, killing 13 people and injuring more than 60 others, including several children.
According to Ukraine’s Air Force, Russian forces launched 69 missiles and 298 Shahed-type attack drones and decoy UAVs in a coordinated assault that targeted both civilian and critical infrastructure across the country.
Air defenses managed to intercept 45 missiles and neutralize 266 drones, but many still reached their targets, causing destruction and loss of life.
In Kyiv region, four people were killed, and 23 others were wounded including three children, according to Ukrainian Police.

The strike damaged areas across the Brovary, Bila Tserkva, Bucha, and Obukhiv districts. Two people died while firefighters battled a blaze in Obukhiv, while another person was killed in Bucha. In Fastiv District, one person died and eight were wounded.
In the Zhytomyr region, three children aged 8, 12, and 17 were killed when Russian strikes hit residential areas. Twelve others were wounded and hospitalized. Damage was reported to multiple private homes and a five-story apartment building in Berdychiv district.
In the capital, Kyiv, 11 people aged 18 to 62 were reported injured as debris from intercepted drones fell across the city.
A fire broke out in a dormitory in the Holosiivskyi district, which was later extinguished. In the Dniprovskiy district, the second floor of a private home was destroyed, and a business center in Shevchenkivskyi district was also damaged.
In the Khmelnytskyi region, four people were killed and five others wounded. The region saw significant destruction: six private homes were destroyed, more than 20 were damaged, and both a school and public transportation infrastructure were hit.
In Mykolaiv, a drone strike on a five-story apartment building caused a major fire and the collapse of two floors. A 77-year-old man was killed, and five others were injured.

In Ternopil, a missile strike partially damaged an industrial facility. Firefighters contained the blaze, and no casualties were reported.
In the Sumy region, Russian drones targeted a food production facility twice during the night. No injuries were reported, as workers took shelter in time.
The city of Konotop also came under attack, which Mayor Artem Semenikhin described as “the most intense and complex strike on the city from World War II.” Infrastructure was destroyed, and some areas lost power.
In Kharkiv, a 14-year-old boy and two men aged 34 and 43 were wounded as Russian strikes hit the Shevchenkivskyi and Osnovianskyi districts.
In the village of Kozacha Lopan, a 63-year-old woman was killed. Damage was also reported to two civilian businesses, apartment buildings, a private house, and a farm.
The Ukrainian Air Force detailed the types of weapons used in the coordinated strike, which included:
9 Iskander-M ballistic missiles from Russia’s Kursk region
55 Kh-101 and Kalibr cruise missiles from Tu-95 and Tu-160 strategic bombers and the Black Sea
1 Kh-22 cruise missile from a Tu-22M3 aircraft
4 Kh-59/69 guided missiles from tactical aviation
298 Shahed-type drones and decoy UAVs launched from multiple Russian regions
Of the 367 targets, Ukraine’s air defenses intercepted 45 missiles and neutralized 266 drones. Electronic warfare units reportedly suppressed 127 drones, while 139 were shot down.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated emergency crews responded to over 30 towns and villages following the overnight Russian barrage, which he described as a deliberate assault on civilians. “Wherever help is needed, operations are ongoing—our services are on the ground, providing assistance and supporting people,” he said, thanking first responders for their continued efforts.
“These were deliberate strikes on ordinary cities,” he emphasized.
Residential buildings were destroyed or damaged, including university dormitories in Kyiv, and several industrial sites were hit. “Tragically, there are fatalities, including children,” he added. “My condolences to the families.”
Today, rescuers have been working in more than 30 Ukrainian cities and villages following Russia’s massive strike. Wherever necessary, work continues – our emergency services are on the ground, providing assistance and supporting people. Thank you.

Zelenskyy once again called for tougher international sanctions against Moscow. “Every such terrorist strike by Russia is reason enough for new sanctions,” he said.
He warned that Russia is deliberately prolonging the war and continues to kill civilians daily. “The world might go into weekend mode, but the war doesn’t stop for weekends or weekdays. This cannot be ignored,” he said, arguing that silence from the United States and others only emboldens the Kremlin.
He stressed that only sustained international pressure—particularly from the US and European allies—can force Moscow to reconsider its actions.

“The world knows all the weaknesses of the Russian economy. This war can be stopped, but only through the necessary force of pressure,” Zelenskyy said. “Putin must be made to think not about launching missiles, but about ending this war.”
Earlier, Russia launched one of its most massive and sustained air attacks on Kyiv overnight, targeting the Ukrainian capital with ballistic missiles and drones in a seven-hour assault that left at least 15 people injured.
