Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has publicly thanked Russian leader Vladimir Putin for “inspiration in the war” in a post, issued in Russian, on social media X on March 26.
Pezeshkian’s statement expressed gratitude for Russia’s support during the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

He has formally acknowledged the strategic depth of the Moscow-Tehran alliance, stating that messages from Putin and the support of the Russian people are a primary source of motivation for the Islamic Republic.
"President Putin’s messages and the support of the Russian people inspire us in this war,” Pezeshkian wrote,
The statement, notably issued in Russian, asserted that the “resistance and courage of the Iranian people” are forging “new bonds that will ensure the security of East Asia by the countries of the region.” Concluding his message, he expressed gratitude to the Kremlin, stating, “On behalf of the people of Iran, I thank the government and people of Russia.”

The deepening military cooperation between Moscow and Tehran includes the transfer of advanced Russian satellite imagery and upgraded drone technology to Iran. This expanded intelligence sharing is designed to help Tehran better target United States forces and regional allies.
This intelligence sharing, which reportedly included the locations of American military assets, may have facilitated recent Iranian strikes on radar systems in Jordan and targets in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman. Tehran increasingly adopts Russian tactics of using drones to overwhelm air defenses before launching missile attacks.
The alliance between Tehran and Moscow has recently evolved into a reciprocal exchange of high-end defense technology. In early 2026, reports confirmed that Russia had begun arming Iran with its own specialized drone models, effectively completing a technological “full circle” after Iran initially supplied Russia with Shahed suicide drones for their invasion of Ukraine.
This cooperation has allowed Iran to modernize its aerial capabilities while providing Russia with a testing ground for electronic warfare and surveillance data in a high-intensity regional conflict.
