Kremlin’s Pro-War Pop Star Shaman Marries Russia’s Internet Censorship Chief in Occupied Donetsk

Russian state-affiliated singer Yaroslav Dronov, known by his stage name Shaman, has married Yekaterina Mizulina, head of Russia’s “Safe Internet League,” in the temporarily Russian-occupied Ukrainian city of Donetsk, according to Telegraf on November 5.
The ceremony took place in a local registry office, where Denis Pushilin—the Kremlin-installed leader of the so-called “Donetsk People’s Republic “—was reportedly present.

Footage shared by Russian Telegram channels showed the couple dressed in khaki-colored attire, with Mizulina holding a bouquet of white roses. Only about a dozen people attended the event.
Mizulina, 41, has gained notoriety in Russia for promoting online censorship and for her involvement in state propaganda campaigns. She has also been described by Russian media as a close ally of Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Shaman, 33, has been a vocal supporter of Russia’s war against Ukraine, performing patriotic songs such as “I’m Russian.”
According to Telegraf, the couple confirmed their relationship publicly in March 2025 after months of speculation. Their decision to marry in occupied Donetsk—a territory internationally recognized as part of Ukraine—has been widely interpreted as a symbolic act of loyalty to Moscow.

Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council has earlier added Shaman to its list of individuals posing a threat to national security due to his public support for the Russian invasion.
Earlier, on April 18, 2025, President Zelenskyy imposed sanctions on Yaroslav Dronov (Shaman) and 19 other Russian public figures for promoting pro-war propaganda, freezing their assets and banning economic activities in Ukraine.
