According to the minister, the package is aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s energy system, shelters, infrastructure, and both social and civic resilience. It will also support Ukraine’s capabilities in the use of drones.

“Latvia will always stand alongside Ukraine,” Braže stated.

Ongoing military and energy assistance

The latest package builds on a series of recent Latvian initiatives aimed at supporting Ukraine’s energy and defense sectors.

Earlier, Braže said Latvia was preparing to transfer a dismantled thermal power plant to Ukraine to help stabilize its energy infrastructure amid continued Russian strikes.

“Latvia is doing everything possible,” she stated. “We have just delivered another package of energy support and are preparing another, including literally relocating a thermal power plant dismantled in Latvia that we no longer need.”

Latvia has also committed additional military support. Prime Minister Evika Siliņa announced that the country would allocate $11 million for the procurement of US-made weapons under NATO’s PURL initiative.

The funding forms part of Latvia’s broader policy of dedicating 0.25% of its GDP annually to support Ukraine.

In parallel, Latvia has begun supplying batches of CVR(T) tracked armored vehicles to Ukraine to strengthen battalion-level units. Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov confirmed the deliveries following talks with Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds.

“Met with Latvia’s Minister of Defense Andris Sprūds. We discussed the development of joint projects and strengthening defense cooperation,” Fedorov said.

“Latvia has begun transferring batches of CVR (T) armored combat vehicles to Ukraine. Deliveries are ongoing—the equipment is being supplied to reinforce battalion units.”
