Latvia Sends 1,300 Locally Produced Drones to Ukraine as Part of International Coalition Effort

Latvia has delivered a new batch of 1,300 drones to the Ukrainian Armed Forces as part of its ongoing military support within the multinational drone coalition.
The delivery was announced by Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds on July 22 via the social platform X.
According to Spruds, this is part of a broader initiative coordinated through the Drone Coalition, which Latvia co-leads with the United Kingdom under the framework of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramstein format).

“These next 1,300 Latvia-produced drones are on their way to Ukraine. With this shipment, a total of 12,000 drones will be delivered to Ukrainian forces in 2025, at a value exceeding €17 million,” Spruds wrote.
The drones were manufactured by Latvian companies under previously contracted agreements for the first half of the year. Funding for the procurement is provided through the Drone Coalition fund, created to accelerate the supply of unmanned aerial systems to Ukraine.
The initiative was launched in February 2024 to streamline the production and transfer of UAVs to support Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
According to Latvian officials, all 12,000 drones scheduled for delivery in 2025 have been tailored to meet the specific operational needs of the Ukrainian military.
Earlier, at the 29th Ramstein-format meeting on July 21, Ukraine’s allies announced new defense commitments, including US-led arms procurement initiatives, Germany’s support for Patriot systems and long-range drones, and Canada’s $14.6 million allocation for tank maintenance. The Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden also pledged substantial drone and air defense aid.
