Lithuania and Latvia have reportedly denied a flight carrying Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić from crossing their airspace en route to Moscow, where he plans to attend the Victory Day parade on May 9.

According to the Serbian newspaper Novosti, on May 6, Latvian authorities prohibited the flight due to the 'political sensitivity of the purpose of the flight,' while Lithuanian authorities cited 'technical and diplomatic sensitivity' as the reason for their decision.

Earlier, Novosti highlighted that Poland and Lithuania had also denied flights for Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, raising similar concerns about airspace usage.

There have been no official comments from the authorities of either Latvia or Lithuania regarding the matter.

Previously, it was reported that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has confirmed he will travel to Moscow to attend the May 9 Victory Day parade, defying calls from the European Union to stay away.
