Lithuanian Armed Forces Commander Raimundas Vaikšnoras has acknowledged the possibility of deploying peacekeepers to Ukraine, stating that the issue should be discussed.

According to LRT on January 30, Vaikšnoras emphasized that Lithuania also has a responsibility for maintaining stability in Europe.

"If asked whether Lithuania could send troops to Ukraine, I would say that we would likely consider it. A discussion will take place, and I believe we must also take responsibility for stability in Europe," the Lithuanian army chief stated.

Earlier, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed the potential deployment of British and French troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping mission in the event of a ceasefire agreement.

The leaders considered various scenarios, including the establishment of a demilitarized buffer zone, in talks that also involved Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has also stated that German military forces could potentially participate in securing a demilitarized zone in Ukraine if a ceasefire is reached.
