Massive Fire Erupts After Reported Ukraine's FP-1 Drone Attack on Russian Oil Depot in Rostov Region

Residents of Matveev Kurgan in Russia’s Rostov region reported a drone strike on the local oil depot on October 9, Russian outlet Baza reported.
Local and regional outlets shared the footage soon after the incident, while live flight-tracking and war monitors flagged an attack on fuel infrastructure in the border district.
Rostov region governor Yuri Slyusar acknowledged drone activity and blast damage in the settlement but did not directly name the oil facility. “Glazing, facades and roofs of several residential buildings, as well as five cars, were damaged in the settlement of Matveev Kurgan.
Information on casualties is being clarified,” he wrote on his official Telegram channel, adding that three UAVs were destroyed over Matveyevo-Kurgansky district.
Ukrainian media Militarnyi attributed the strike to domestically produced FP-1 long-range one-way attack drones, developed by the Fire Point company and used in repeated deep-strike campaigns against Russian fuel infrastructure this year.
Public reporting describes the FP-1 as a low-cost system with a range advertised up to roughly 1,600 km and a payload estimated by Associated Press at about 60 kg.
Earlier, it was reported that a drone strike caused a large fire at the Atlas oil depot in Russia’s Rostov region, a facility linked to fuel supplies for the Russian military.
