Russian Ambassador to Moldova Oleg Ozerev was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was shown a downed drone that had fallen in the northern part of the country. Moldova handed him a formal protest note due to the illegal flight of six drones through its airspace. In response, Ozerev stated that “there needs to be an investigation,” adding that “many operations are carried out under false flags,” Moldovan outlet NewsMaker reported on November 26.

The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the drone incident, calling it “unacceptable” and a direct violation of Moldova’s sovereignty and a threat to national and regional security.

The Ministry reiterated its call for Russia to refrain from actions threatening Moldova’s security and to respect international norms and the country’s territorial integrity. The Ministry also demanded that the Russian embassy take necessary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future, according to NewsMaker.

Ambassador Ozerev suggested a “shift in diplomatic relations”, emphasizing that many operations are “conducted under foreign flags”, and that these incidents aim to harm Russia-Moldova relations.

The drones were part of a combined Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine overnight, and Moldova’s airspace had detected six drones. One drone landed on the roof without causing significant damage, NewsMaker wrote.

Previously, it was reported that Romania’s defense minister, Ionuț Moșteanu, said a Russian drone without a warhead was discovered in Vaslui County after entering Romanian airspace during Russia’s overnight attack on Ukraine.

Speaking during a visit to the 57th “Mihail Kogălniceanu” Air Base, he confirmed the drone went down in the Puiești area, as reported by Agerpres.
