Two unidentified drones were observed near Sweden’s principal naval installation in Karlskrona during the night of September 25, according to SVT.
Residents on the islands of Sturkö and Tjurkö reported seeing drones with flashing red and green lights over the Karlskrona archipelago. Police units dispatched to the area also confirmed sighting at least one of the aircraft.
Investigator Mattias Lundgren told SVT the object was “a large drone, similar to those previously seen over Denmark and Skåne.”
The Operational Center later confirmed that the incident involved at least two drones. Police have opened a case under aviation law and the Act on the Protection of Objects.

The drones were reported close to the Mekclesundsbron bridge, only a few kilometers from the Swedish Navy’s main base.
Despite multiple eyewitness accounts, none of the devices have been recovered, and no suspects have been identified. Local patrols are continuing to collect testimonies.
Authorities noted that the drones displayed both green and red lights, matching earlier reports from other Nordic countries.
Earlier in September, police in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany, intercepted a vessel on the North Sea Canal suspected of serving as a drone launch platform. Authorities reported that equipment linked to drone operations was found on board, and investigations into its possible role in surveillance activities are ongoing.
