The Netherlands stated it will help fund a new $500 million weapons, equipment, and ammunition package for Ukraine sourced from US stocks under NATO’s Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, and will also supply F-16 flight simulators, according to the Dutch Defense Ministry on February 12.

Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans made the announcement in Brussels on the sidelines of a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, where more than 50 countries coordinate military support for Ukraine, the ministry said.

The package totals about $499 million, with the Netherlands contributing about $107 million. from a previously pledged about $890 million.

The Dutch government said the PURL packages are designed to provide items Ukraine needs urgently, and that can be delivered quickly, including Patriot missiles, artillery ammunition, F-16 ammunition, and spare parts drawn from US inventories.

It said the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Norway, and Sweden were participating in the new delivery.

Brekelmans said continued Russian attacks on energy facilities made air defense support especially important, adding that it was “therefore of great importance that we continue to support Ukraine on a massive scale, especially with air defense systems.”

The ministry also said the Netherlands will provide F-16 simulators to support pilot training, but that it would limit details for operational security.

In addition, the German Aid to Ukraine project noted that Germany will deliver five additional PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Ukraine’s MIM-104 Patriot air defense systems if other countries jointly gather and deliver a further 30 PAC-3 missiles, according to German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius’ statement.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine and its international partners agreed on more than $1.1 billion in new defense and industrial support during a Ramstein‑format Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting in Brussels, including at least $422 million committed to the PURL initiative for weapons and equipment.
