New Polish President Warns Europe: Russia’s Threat Extends Beyond Ukraine

Poland’s newly elected President Karol Nawrocki arrived in Helsinki for a one-day working visit hosted by Finnish President Alexander Stubb, YLE reported on September 9.
The two leaders focused on security policy, particularly Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine. At a joint press conference, Nawrocki warned that Russian leader Vladimir Putin was prepared to attack countries beyond Ukraine.
Both Nawrocki and Stubb maintain strong personal ties with US President Donald Trump. Nawrocki, in office for only a month, has already met with Trump in Washington.

“Trump understands how big a threat Putin poses,” Nawrocki said, adding, “we don’t trust Putin.” Stubb echoed the concern, saying Russia faces too little pressure from the international community, YLE writes.
Previously, it was reported that Poland would temporarily close its border with Belarus during the upcoming Zapad military exercises, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced.
Earleir, two drones have also briefly entered Polish airspace overnight from but were not intercepted, as they posed no threat, the Polish army said.
