The Polish government has developed and submitted a new bill to parliament that will allow the payment for Starlink satellite internet services for Ukraine, Biznes Alert reported on September 5.

Deputy Minister of the Interior Maciej Duszczyk announced the move, expressing hope that the Sejm  will consider the bill during its next four-day session.

After that, the bill could be sent to the Senate and then to the president for approval.

Duszczyk also noted that the proposed bill will address social benefits for Ukrainian refugees and include a system to verify their places of residence.

Currently, under Polish law, Starlink support for Ukraine is set to continue until September 30, 2025.

However, in late August, Polish Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski stated that Poland would no longer be able to pay for Starlink services due to a veto from President Karol Nawrocki regarding the law extending support for Ukrainian refugees.

Gwiazdowski argued that cutting off vital services to Ukraine would benefit Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

Later, the Head of the Polish President’s Chancellery, Zbigniew Bogucki, reassured that Starlink services, funded by Poland, would not be disconnected in Ukraine.

He added that the parliament would “effectively” process the presidential initiative by September, before the expiration of the deadline.

Previously, two drones briefly entered Polish airspace overnight but were not intercepted, as they posed no threat, the Polish army said.
