North Korea and Russia Hold High-Level Talks to Deepen Military-Political Cooperation

North Korea and Russia have engaged in high-level discussions regarding methods to strengthen cooperation between their respective military-political organs, according to KCNA on November 7.
These meetings occur amid increasing indications that North Korea may be preparing to deploy additional personnel to support Russian military operations in Ukraine.
Pak Yong-il, Vice Director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army, held formal talks with Russian Deputy Defense Minister Viktor Goremykin in Pyongyang on November 5, as confirmed by the KCNA.
The KCNA report specified that the primary agenda involved discussing “issues of strengthening cooperation and exchange between the army political organs” in alignment with the deepening bilateral relationship between the two nations.

Meanwhile, North Korea conducted a launch of a ballistic missile on November 7, directing the trajectory toward the sea off its eastern coastline.
This action follows a series of missile firings executed by North Korea over the preceding two weeks. The timing of the test is notable as it occurred subsequent to the renewed offer for bilateral discussions extended by US President Donald Trump to Pyongyang.
The South Korea’s military reported that the projectile, assessed to be a short-range ballistic missile, originated from an area situated in North Korea, near the border with China. The missile's flight was estimated to have covered a distance of approximately 700 kilometers (435 miles).
Earlier, the Defense Intelligence Agency of South Korea formally assessed that North Korea retains the operational capability to execute a seventh nuclear test on short notice.
