Over a Dozen of Russian Soldiers Surrendered to Ukrainian Armed Forces
On Wednesday, August 21, Ukrainian soldiers got hold of more than a dozen Russian soldiers, including members of the “Akhmat” unit, often regarded as part of Russia’s “military elite.”
The Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the successful capture, noting that soldiers from the 22nd Separate Mechanized Brigade had strengthened the exchange fund with these new prisoners.
“Soldiers of the Ground Forces continue to carry out combat missions in the Kursk region. We have had good results regarding prisoners, which means even more of our boys and girls will soon return home,” Ukrainian fighters stated.
Photos released by the Ukrainian military show the chevron of the Kadyrov “Akhmat” unit among the captured items.
This is not the first instance of Chechen fighters surrendering to Ukrainian forces. On August 17, Ukrainian soldiers added another Chechen group to their prisoner exchange fund.
Additionally, on August 14, a video emerged of more than a hundred Russian soldiers, who made the decision to surrender to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, released a current map showing the territories under Ukrainian control. The Ukrainian army has advanced 28-35 kilometers into Russian territory.
