Kyiv Hit by Massive Russian Missile and Drone Attack: 13 killed, 90 Injured, People Trapped Under Rubble

On the night of April 24, the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, was hit by a significant assault from Russian forces, who launched Kalibr missiles and Shahed drones, according to UNITED24 Media journalists on the ground.
Following the Russian attack on Kyiv, the number of injured individuals has risen to 90, with 13 confirmed fatalities as reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration.
On the night on April 24, Russia targeted the Ukrainian capital with approximately six Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, around six 3M14 Caliber cruise missiles, and an unspecified number of attack UAVs.

Pavlo Petrov, spokesperson for the capital’s emergency service, confirmed that efforts to address the aftermath of the strike are ongoing. “Emergency workers continue search and rescue operations. So far, 860 cubic meters of construction debris and wreckage have been cleared. We are continuing our work. All necessary equipment is in operation. The damage is severe, both to the two-story building that was the epicenter of the strike and to nearby apartment blocks,” he said.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the ninth victim recovered from the rubble in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv was a 27-year-old woman. Rescue teams, supported by canine units from the State Emergency Service (SES), are continuing their efforts at the site.
The operation is being carried out in phases, with initial efforts focused on clearing access paths. Heavy SES machinery is then deployed to fully dismantle the debris. Search operations are ongoing, with teams working around the clock.
“We will continue until we are certain that all bodies have been recovered or that survivors have been rescued,” said Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko.
The ongoing assault underscores the continued threat from Russian forces targeting civilian infrastructure in Kyiv.
The missile attacks are part of a broader Russian offensive targeting civilian infrastructure. Preliminary assessments suggest that approximately six Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, six Caliber cruise missiles, and a number of attack UAVs were launched towards Kyiv.
Additionally, Kharkiv sustained at least three cruise missile hits, while Pavlohrad was struck by two Iskander-M/KN-23 missiles and three cruise missiles.

Ukrainian military authorities confirmed the presence of Russian Tu-95MS and Tu-160 bombers in the airspace of the Western region, with more missile launches expected between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.
The attack began with missiles and was followed by continued strikes from Shahed drones.
