On the night of August 5, drones attacked the "Tatsinskaya" railway station in Russia's Rostov region, sparking a fire at the site. This incident was reported by Astra and local residents on social media on August 5.

While the exact cause of the fire is still unclear, geolocated footage from eyewitnesses confirmed that the videos were indeed taken at this railway station. The temporary head of the region, Yuriy Slyusary, later confirmed the fire at the site near the Tatsinskaya station, Militarnyi reports.

In a statement, he also reported: “Russian air defenses successfully repelled a mass airstrike across several districts of the Rostov region. Fires were recorded at multiple locations, including a substation.”

“Fires occurred. In the village of Verkhnetalovka in the Millerovo district, a substation caught fire. The fire, covering an area of 500 square meters, was extinguished. In Tatsinskaya, a canopy in the yard of a private house caught fire, which was quickly put out. No injuries were reported,” said the governor.

The Tatsinskaya station is located approximately 250 kilometers from the front lines of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. Open sources indicate that the station plays a critical role in logistics and the functioning of the Tatsinskaya oil depot.

Later in the morning, Russia's Ministry of Defense claimed that 24 drones had been shot down overnight, including 13 over Bryansk region, 7 over Rostov region, 2 over Kaluga, and 2 over Smolensk regions, according to Militarnyi.

This railway infrastructure, located in the city of Frolovo, is crucial for internal transportation within Russia and serves as a key hub for long-distance travel deeper into the country, Militarnyi states.

Earlier, on the night of August 4, a drone attack on a railway hub in the Volgograd region had caused a fire at the dispatching building of the Archida station. Railyard relay cabinets that control train movements and traffic safety were also damaged.
