The Ukrainian partisan movement Atesh said one of its agents destroyed a communications tower in the Russian city of Kursk, disrupting links used by Russian military and security agencies, according to Atesh report on January 7.

“Our agent carried out a successful sabotage operation, destroying an important communications tower,” Atesh said, adding that the target was “a key communications hub” used by “numerous military and security structures” based in Kursk.

Atesh stated the tower served as a key communications node for multiple Russian units and agencies stationed in the city, and that the sabotage immediately disrupted communications between the 27th Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Brigade, the regional directorate of Russia’s Federal Security Service in the Kursk region, the regional directorate of Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service, and other military facilities.

The movement also said the operation was “a direct blow to the regime’s internal infrastructure,” arguing that the loss of communications in a border region complicates coordination for Russian forces.

Earlier, it was reported that the Atesh movement claimed to have sabotaged a railway line near Simferopol in temporarily occupied Crimea, disrupting train traffic and Russian military supplies on key fronts.
