Polish Prosecutor’s Office has filed an indictment against Piotr G. and Agata G., who face charges for publicly supporting Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Gliwice-Wschod District Prosecutor’s Office reported on October 24.

The charges stem from a protest action in which the defendants allegedly displayed a banner promoting Russian intervention.

According to the case details, on February 20, 2024, Piotr G. and Agata G. participated in a National Farmers' Protest, a demonstration organized across multiple Polish cities. The couple attended the demonstration in Gorzyce, where participants formed a convoy of agricultural vehicles.

The defendants drove a John Deere tractor adorned with a banner that read, “Putin, bring order to Ukraine, Brussels, and our rulers,” alongside a symbol resembling the Soviet Union flag.

Initially, both denied the charges, stating that their intention was merely to highlight the challenges faced by farmers.

However, they later acknowledged their actions and submitted applications for a plea agreement with the prosecutor.

If convicted, the defendants face potential sentences ranging from 3 months to 5 years in prison under Polish law prohibiting public support for aggressive war.

Earlier, Polish farmers were once again planning to block the movement of trucks at the Medyka-Shehyni border crossing.
