During Russia’s massive overnight assault on Kyiv, the consular section of the Polish Embassy was damaged, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski confirmed on July 4 on X.

“I just spoke with Ambassador Łukasiewicz; everyone is alive and well. Ukraine urgently needs air defense systems,” Sikorski wrote.

“Massive Russian attack last night has caused fires and much damage, including to the Polish consulate in Kyiv. President Trump, Putin is mocking your peace efforts. Please restore supplies of anti-aircraft ammunition to Ukraine and impose tough new sanctions on the aggressor,” he later added.

The strike was part of one of the largest aerial attacks on Ukraine to date. According to Ukrainian officials, Russia launched 550 aerial weapons between the evening of July 3 and the early hours of July 4.

Ukrainian air defenses managed to intercept 478 of them, but impacts were recorded at eight locations in Kyiv, with debris falling in 33 others.

The attack caused extensive fires and injuries across multiple districts of the capital. Among the damaged sites were residential buildings, schools, and medical infrastructure—underscoring Ukraine’s persistent vulnerability to Russia’s long-range attacks.

Earlier, Trump confirmed that the United States is still supplying weapons to Ukraine, despite recent concerns about the strain on American military stockpiles.

“We haven’t stopped. We’re providing weapons,” Trump said. “But we’ve given so much… and we’re trying to help them. Biden depleted our entire country by giving away weapons, and we now have to make sure we have enough arms for ourselves.”

Trump’s remarks came one day after his sixth phone call this year with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The July 3 conversation lasted nearly an hour, but Trump acknowledged it brought no tangible progress on ending the war in Ukraine.
