On August 25, Ryan Evans, a member of the Reuters team covering Russia’s war in Ukraine, was killed, and two other Reuters journalists were injured in a strike on a hotel in the Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk, Reuters reported.

Evans, a former British soldier, who was working as a safety adviser for the agency, was killed when a missile struck the Hotel Sapphire, where he was staying with his colleagues.

Two of the agency's journalists are being treated in the hospital, with one of them in serious condition, Reuters reported, without mentioning their names.

"We are urgently seeking more information about the attack, including by working with the authorities in Kramatorsk, and we are supporting our colleagues and their families," Reuters said.

The Institute of Mass Information reported that Reuters cameraman Ivan Lyubysh-Kirdey was seriously injured as a result of a Russian attack on the Sapphire Hotel in Kramatorsk on August 24.

According to the source, Ivan is in the Dnipro hospital. He is in serious condition on artificial lung ventilation and has already undergone surgery.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the hotel was hit by a Russian Iskander missile, a ballistic missile that can strike at distances up to 500 km (310 miles).

“Among those injured were journalists, including a film crew from Reuters. Citizens of Ukraine, America and Britain. An ordinary city hotel was destroyed by a Russian Iskander missile – deliberately, purposefully. This strike injured seven people and took one life. My condolences to the family and friends,” Zelenskyy said in his evening address on August 25.
