Russia Launches "Russophobes" Website to Expose and Intimidate Kremlin Critics

On April 28, Russian activists launched a website called ‘Russophobes,’ which lists individuals and organizations critical of the Kremlin and its full-scale war against Ukraine.
The site publishes personal information about critics, including photographs, social media profiles, and phone numbers. Some of the data appears to have been sourced from official registries maintained by the Russian Ministry of Justice. To date, over 150 individuals have been added to the database.
Those named are divided into categories such as “Anti-Russian Figures,” “Intellectuals Who Fled,” “Runaway Oligarchs,” “Hostile Propagandists,” “Sanctions Initiators” and “Accomplices of Ukrainian Nazis.”

In addition, nearly 60 organizations — including international institutions like the British Council — have been listed under a section titled “Hostile Organizations.”
The site’s “About Us” section quotes former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who previously suggested creating a public database of so-called “enemies of Russia” for unspecified “practical purposes.”
According to its creators, who describe themselves as “patriots,” the platform will be updated weekly with new entries. The website warns individuals: “Russophobe, we see you. Know that your hostile actions will not go unpunished.”
Previously, it was reported that the pro-Kremlin “Pravda”—the Russian word for "truth"—network has “infected” 10 leading artificial intelligence (AI) tools and chat bots with false claims and disinformation about Russia’s war in Ukraine, a recent audit by NewsGuard found.
