Russia Targets Kyiv and Major Ukrainian Cities in Overnight Missile and Drone Barrage

Russia carried out a large-scale overnight attack on Ukraine on October 25, launching ballistic missiles at Kyiv and drone strikes across several other regions, including Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv. At least four people were killed and dozens injured
Kyiv hit by ballistic missiles
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that two civilians were killed in the attack. “One of the injured victims later died in the hospital,” he said.
Twelve others sustained various injuries, including shrapnel wounds and trauma from blast waves. Emergency responders evacuated residents from several damaged buildings and extinguished fires at multiple locations.

In Desnianskyi district, a direct hit destroyed a retail store and adjacent food warehouses. Several parked vehicles were also damaged or burned.
In Dniprovskyi district, shockwaves from the explosions shattered windows in at least a dozen apartment buildings, and a nearby kindergarten sustained structural damage. In Darnytskyi, glass facades were blown out in several residential buildings, with debris scattered across courtyards.

A firefighting helicopter from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine was deployed over the left-bank areas of the capital to assist in extinguishing fires caused by the missile impacts.
The Ukrainian Air Force stated that four of the nine ballistic missiles were successfully intercepted by air defense units. In addition, 50 out of 62 attack drones launched during the night—primarily of the Shahed and Gerbera types—were downed over various regions.

Despite these defensive efforts, multiple impact sites were confirmed across the capital. Photos released by emergency services show widespread debris fields, burned-out vehicles, and shattered windows. Several buildings remain partially uninhabitable due to the scale of destruction.
Strikes kill two in Dnipropetrovsk region
Dnipropetrovsk region came under simultaneous drone and missile fire overnight. According to Governor Vladyslav Haivanenko, attacks targeted the Petropavlivska, Malyomykhailivska, and Pokrovska communities in the Synelnykivskyi district. Fires broke out in residential and commercial areas following the strikes.

Two people were killed, including a rescue worker who died in a repeat strike while responding to the scene. Another emergency responder was injured, along with at least six civilians. Damage was reported to apartment buildings, private homes, utility structures, and vehicles.

The Verbkivska community in Pavlohrad district was struck by suicide drones, damaging critical infrastructure. In Nikopol, drone and artillery attacks set fire to a garage and a civilian vehicle, while earlier shelling damaged two additional homes and a gas pipeline.
Kharkiv suffers guided bomb and drone attacks
In the Kharkiv region, Russian forces used six guided aerial bombs and several drones to strike the Industrialnyi district of the city and nearby areas.
Regional governor Oleh Syniehubov confirmed that 13 civilians were injured in the attacks, including men aged 23 to 66 and women aged 40 to 73.
The strikes damaged five civilian enterprises, five vehicles, and two trailers in Kharkiv. In the city of Lozova, a 43-year-old woman was injured, and critical railway infrastructure was hit.

Earlier, on October 24, Russia used guided aerial bombs (KABs) against civilian infrastructure in the Odesa region for the first time, according to regional head Oleh Kiper.
At least four bombs were reported, with some sources suggesting the use of long-range UMPB-5 glide munitions. Local officials called the strike a major escalation in Russia’s air campaign against southern Ukraine.
