On Monday, October 28, a Russian "Shahed" drone flew critically close to one of the power units of the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).

This was reported by Energoatom .

Energoatom noted that with the onset of the autumn-winter period, Russian troops are intensifying the energy terror of Ukrainian nuclear power plants, creating new risks for the safe operation of nuclear facilities.

"The enemy deliberately violates the principles of nuclear and radiation safety of NPPs, resorting to open terrorism. This must be stopped as soon as possible because the consequences can be felt by the entire continent," emphasized Petro Kotin, Head of Energoatom.

The Head of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, Serhii Tiurin, reported that the Khmelnytskyi region experienced the longest air alert since the beginning of the war, which lasted 11 hours. During that time, the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces destroyed 10 Russian UAVs.

Previously, on October 1, the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP once again got on the verge of a blackout due to Russia shelling the power lines through which the ZNPP receives power.

On the night of September 25, a Russian attack drone was detected flying at a dangerously low altitude near the industrial site of the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant.
