Ukraine condemned Russia’s deadly strike on a civilian bus in the Dnipro region after at least 15 people were killed, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha wrote in a post on X on February 2.

According to Sybiha, Russian forces deliberately targeted a bus carrying mine workers returning home from their shifts.

“No military target—just hardworking men returning to their families after their shifts. Truly horrific,” he wrote.

“Russia once again proves its status of a terrorist state. Russian murderers responsible for this and other atrocities must face justice. Accountability is essential for a just peace,” Sybiha continued.

According to Suspilne, witnesses said the bus was hit with Russian Shahed drones in daylight and that Russia carried out a second strike after civilians rushed to help the wounded.

Local resident said his wife, who worked at a nearby gas station, ran to extinguish a fire after the first explosion and was helping the wounded civilians when Russia launched the follow-up attack.

“I came here, there were a lot of bodies, I ran and looked at each one. I didn’t find her. Then the police called and said they had found a woman’s body. Her colleague said that it looked like her shoes were there,” he said.

The man says he is now going to identify the found woman. According to him, she had two children.

According to Mykhailo Volynets, head of Ukraine’s Independent Miners’ Union, at least 15 people were killed, including nine miners and three civilians who were likely assisting after the initial strike, Suspilne wrote.

Sixteen people were injured, seven of them seriously. Ukrainian officials and defense experts said the bus was deliberately targeted, describing the attack as a conscious strike on civilians.

Previously, it was reported that Russian forces launched an attack on a minibus in Kherson. The shelling resulted in one fatality and several individuals being injured.
