Ukrainian drone operators destroyed an uncommon Russian 2A36 Giatsint-B towed 152 mm gun near Novopavlivka, according to Defense Express on April 12.

The outlet reported that operators from the 25th Separate Airborne Sicheslav Brigade identified and struck the artillery system on the Novopavlivka axis.

The target was reportedly detected by the brigade’s Combat Hawks drone unit, thereby removing a long-range Russian fire-support asset from the battlefield.

“We continue to systematically destroy the enemy’s resources, thereby reducing its offensive potential,” the brigade stated in a caption to the video.

Defense Express noted that the Giatsint-B is less frequently seen than many other Soviet-designed guns and can fire rocket-assisted projectiles at ranges of up to 40 kilometers.

That makes it one of the longest-range conventional artillery systems available to Russian ground forces, second only to the 2S7 Pion 203 mm gun, which can reach 47.5 kilometers.

The Giatsint-B is designed to strike troop concentrations, fire positions, armored vehicles, logistics sites, and fortified defenses.

Its destruction is operationally significant because the system allows Russian forces to engage targets from deeper positions that are harder for many counterbattery systems to reach.

The latest advancement also adds to a broader Ukrainian campaign against Russian systems that help sustain rear-area fire and battlefield protection—on April 10, Ukrainian forces crashed two Russian air defense systems from the S-300V complex in Zaporizhzhia region during a coordinated operation involving multiple units.

Lasar’s Group reported the operation began with drones destroying a Russian Palantin electronic warfare system, which cleared the way for follow-on strikes against the air defense assets.

Working with aerial reconnaissance units from the 15th Separate Artillery Reconnaissance Brigade “Black Forest,” Ukrainian forces then identified and hit a 9A83 launcher and a 9S32 missile-guidance radar.
