Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to expand its strategic targeting capabilities. The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine confirmed the destruction of a Russian Su-30 fighter jet using a Magura sea drone, marking the first recorded instance of a maritime drone neutralizing a military aircraft. The strike occurred in the Black Sea near Novorossiysk, a key logistics hub for Russia’s Black Sea Fleet.
Additionally, on April 19, Ukrainian forces conducted a precision strike on a Russian drone operations facility near Tyotkino in Russia’s Kursk region. According to Ukraine’s General Staff, the facility was used to prepare and launch reconnaissance and FPV drones. The strike reportedly eliminated up to 20 Russian drone operators.
Earlier, Ukraine had unveiled a new medium-range strike system, the “Bars” drone-missile, designed to target military infrastructure deep within Russian territory.
According to the BBC, the Bars system is a private-sector development and bears similarities to the previously revealed Ukrainian cruise missile “Peklo.” With an estimated range of 700 to 800 kilometers, it is classified as a medium-range precision strike weapon.
