Strike drones targeted military and transport infrastructure across several locations in Russia’s Rostov region overnight, causing disruptions to the regional railway network, according to Russian media Astra on April 21.

Residents of Novocherkassk and nearby areas reported multiple explosions. Astra also reported a strike near a railway line in the village of Persianovsky in the Oktyabrsky District.

It is known that military unit No. 22179 is located approximately 1.6 kilometers from the site of the explosion, and repair and maintenance unit No. 3658 was previously situated at a distance of about 800 meters, according to the outlet.

The impact resulted in significant delays at the Likha station, with local reports confirming that train movement was temporarily suspended following the strikes.

Regional Governor Yuriy Slyusar stated that over 40 drones were intercepted by air defense systems. However, he confirmed that the attack resulted in damage to the railway's overhead contact network, affecting the operational capacity of the line.

These logistics disruptions in the Rostov region occurred alongside a series of drone strikes on Tuapse oil refinery on Russia’s Black Sea coast.

According to reports from Astra on April 20, an analysis of visual evidence from the scene indicates that multiple fuel storage tanks in the facility’s tank farm were ignited after a mass drone strike.

The outlet reported that the fire impacted a significant area of the refinery, with up to ten separate storage reservoirs affected in the section of the site located near the port. Regional authorities confirmed the incident, with Krasnodar region governor Veniamin Kondratyev stating that “a fire broke out in the seaport.”

He also noted that debris from the drones caused damage to buildings throughout the city, including civilian infrastructure.

In recent months, Ukrainian drone units have also targeted Russian military rail logistics, specifically focusing on fuel trains and locomotives throughout the occupied territories.

According to an April 3 report by Defense Express, these operations are part of a systematic effort to disrupt the logistical network supporting Russian troops, moving beyond defensive measures against long-range drone strikes on civilian infrastructure.
