Russian Strikes on Sumy Region Kill 3, Injure 5 in Drone and Missile Attacks on Civilians and Infrastructure

On the early hours of September 12, Russian forces launched several attacks on Sumy region, targeting civilian transport, industrial areas, and residential neighborhoods, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration Oleh Hryhorov reported.
A drone struck a car in Sumy district, injuring a 19-year-old passenger who was hospitalized.


Several drones hit an industrial zone on the outskirts of Sumy, causing a fire and damaging vehicles and non-residential buildings. An on-site security guard was initially in contact after the first strike but went missing following a second attack. His body was later found under the rubble.
A missile also struck the Bytytsia community of Sumy district in the morning.
In total, three people were killed: the security guard at the industrial facility in Sumy and two residents of Bytytsia, according to Hryhorov. Five more civilians were injured, including two women aged 75 and 62 who were hospitalized. Three others received medical assistance on site.

Rescue and recovery operations are ongoing.
Earlier, Russia launched one of its largest aerial assaults on Ukraine, firing over 800 drones and missiles at multiple cities, including Kyiv, Odesa, Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, and Kremenchuk. According to Ukraine’s National Police, at least two people were killed in the capital and more than 20 others injured.
