Ukrainian Troops Reclaim Two Villages, Push Russian Forces Back Across Border in Sumy Region

Ukrainian Armed Forces have cleared the villages of Stepne and Novokostyantynivka (formerly Pershe Travnya) in the Sumy region, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on August 12.
“Warriors of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment, through active operations, pushed enemy units beyond Ukraine’s state border,” the statement said.

Independent monitoring platforms, including DeepState, as well as the General Staff’s own daily battlefield map, had not previously marked Russian troop presence in these settlements.
The announcement may indicate that Ukrainian troops repelled an attempted incursion by Russian assault or sabotage-reconnaissance groups along a new section of the border in the Sumy region.
Earlier, Ukrainian Armed Forces had taken full control of the border village of Besalivka in the Sumy region, clearing it of Russian troops.
