Second Russian Strike in Days Rocks Zaporizhzhia, 4 Injured, Homes Damaged

Russian forces carried out two air strikes on the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia on December 19, injuring at least four civilians and damaging homes, according to the local authorities. 

Zaporizhzhia region officials said the wounded were women aged 36, 72 and 78 and a 68-year-old man, adding that one of the women suffered an acute stress reaction and all were receiving medical assistance.

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said its psychologists provided support to five people, including a child. 

Ukrainian media and emergency service updates reported that a two-story private house was partially destroyed and caught fire, with the blast wave damaging nearby buildings and triggering several fires as emergency crews worked at the scene.

Regional governor Ivan Fedorov said emergency responders were deployed and wrote on Telegram: “There were several fires. Preliminary reports indicated no casualties. All emergency services are already working at the scene.” 

Regional authorities also urged residents who need assistance after the attack to contact municipal and regional hotlines. 

Earlier, it was reported that Russian forces struck a grocery store in the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia, wounding at least six people, including a child and an emergency worker.
