Syrskyi: Ukraine’s Dobropillia Counteroffensive Ongoing—Over 180 km² Liberated, 200 km² Cleared in Donetsk

According to a statement by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi on October 9, the Dobropillia counteroffensive operation by the Defense Forces of Ukraine is ongoing.
During a field visit on October 8 to assess the situation along the front line, Syrskyi held a meeting with the command staff at one of the control points, hearing reports on the operational environment and the progress of previously assigned tasks.
He also spoke with unit commanders conducting counter-sabotage operations aimed at locating and eliminating Russian reconnaissance and sabotage groups, as well as isolated enemy forces that remain encircled.

Despite continuous Russian counterattacks, Ukrainian assault units continue offensive actions in several sectors. According to Syrskyi, a total of 180.8 square kilometers of territory in Donetsk region have been liberated, while an additional 212.9 square kilometers have been cleared of enemy saboteurs.
Syrskyi said he identified key issues and needs of the assault grouping and issued the necessary orders. Counter-sabotage measures will continue, and the defense “will remain active.”
Measures are also being taken to prevent Russian advances toward Pokrovsk, improve logistics, and protect roads and critical infrastructure. He concluded that the Defense Forces “continue to work toward our shared goal.”
Earlier, it was reported that Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi described a counteroffensive near Pokrovsk that trapped Russian forces and prompted Russia to redeploy naval infantry brigades to the Dobropillia sector.
