Ukraine’s military has liberated nearly 175 square kilometers in the Dobropillia sector as part of its ongoing counteroffensive, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi announced on September 29.
Additionally, Ukrainian forces have cleared nearly 195 square kilometers of territory from Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups. Syrskyi noted that parts of Russia’s units in the area have now been encircled.

“Today I spent another day working with the units operating on key fronts, including the Dobropillia direction. I held a meeting with commanders of the brigades and battalions involved in the counteroffensive. Thanks to well-coordinated and bold actions by our troops, some enemy units have been surrounded,” Syrskyi said.
According to him, Russian forces have lost 3,185 soldiers in this sector alone, of whom 1,769 are considered irrecoverable losses. Ukrainian forces also destroyed or captured 969 pieces of Russian weaponry and military equipment.

“Based on commanders’ reports, I defined new tasks and issued instructions to increase the effectiveness of long-range strikes, neutralize hostile groups in targeted areas, and strengthen coordination between units. I also approved logistical decisions to ensure our troops are supplied, especially as weather conditions deteriorate,” Syrskyi said.
Earlier, Russian soldiers were complaining that their commanders were sending them on so-called “meat assaults” near Pokrovsk.
