Zelenskyy Discusses Ongoing Donbas Operations, Highlights Ukrainian Progress Despite Russian Claims

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on Ukraine’s ongoing counteroffensive operations in the Donetsk region, especially near Dobropillya and Pokrovsk, where Ukrainian forces have around 330 km under their control and liberated 160 km, Zelenskyy told to media on September 20.
He noted Russia’s attempts to reinforce these areas, particularly with the 61st Marine Brigade.
Zelenskyy acknowledged challenges but praised Ukraine’s Armed Forces. He also mentioned continued operations in Kupiansk, where Ukrainian units are neutralizing Russian forces.

“We have strong units operating there, and they are destroying the Russians who are concentrated there and trying to pass through,” he said.
Regarding the Sumy and Zaporizhzhia fronts, Zelenskyy confirmed continued Ukrainian activity and Russia’s shift of focus to Pokrovsk and Dobropillya due to a shortage of troops.
He highlighted discrepancies in Russian reports, indicating internal miscommunication. Despite Russia’s claims of success, Zelenskyy reassured that Ukraine is making steady progress.
“Their reports differ greatly from reality. Where we have restored the situation, the Russians have the opposite on their maps… Middle management reporting upwards in the Russian system differs from the real situation. I think that’s not bad,” Zelenskyy stated.
Previously, it was reported that Russian forces on the Pokrovsk front are experiencing an acute shortage of equipment, according to the ATESH resistance movement.
Agents embedded in the 1442nd Motor Rifle Brigade report that the situation has become so dire that commanders are ordering troops to confiscate vehicles from civilians, disrupting logistics and increasing battlefield losses.
