Polish Air Force MiG-29 jets intercepted a Russian reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea on October 30 morning, marking the third such incident this week, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces reported in a post on X on October 31.

According to the statement, the Russian Il-20 was flying without a filed flight plan and with its transponder switched off, posing a potential threat to regional air traffic safety. The Polish jets identified and escorted the aircraft in accordance with NATO procedures.

No violation of Polish airspace was recorded. The military emphasized that the repeated interceptions this week reflect increasing Russian aerial activity over the Baltic region.

Poland’s armed forces remain on full combat readiness, the command said, and continue to “respond effectively to all provocative actions of the Russian Federation” in close coordination with NATO allies.

Previously, it was reported that in direct response to the Russia’s recent missile strikes targeting facilities within Ukraine, a coordinated operation involving Polish and allied air forces has been immediately activated within Polish airspace.
