US President Donald Trump said on October 6 that he has “sort of made a decision” regarding the possible provision of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, speaking from the Oval Office.

He did not provide details on the decision but added, “I would ask some questions” of Ukrainian officials about how they planned to use the missiles. “I’m not looking to see escalation,” Trump said.

The remarks come amid warnings from Russian leader Vladimir Putin, who has said that such a move could lead to “a qualitatively new stage of escalation.”

Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked US President Donald Trump to provide Tomahawk cruise missiles during a closed-door meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations, a request Trump appeared open to considering.
