UK Fines London Firm $1.28M for Supplying Jet Fuel Used by Russian Military

The UK government has issued a financial penalty of approximately $1.28 million to London-based company Superservice Ltd for breaching Russia-related sanctions. The fine, announced by the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) on July 31, relates to a trade deal involving jet fuel used by Russian military aircraft.
According to the official notice, Superservice Ltd indirectly supplied approximately $2.55 million worth of jet fuel to a third-country entity, which subsequently transferred the product to Russia. OFSI determined that this transaction constituted a “direct or indirect supply or delivery of restricted goods” in violation of the UK sanctions.
“This enforcement action demonstrates OFSI’s continued commitment to imposing penalties where breaches of financial sanctions occur,” the UK Treasury stated in the release.
The agency clarified that the company “did not voluntarily disclose” the breach, which was identified through an intelligence-led investigation.
The case marks one of the largest fines imposed under UK sanctions enforcement since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. OFSI noted that the violation was not reported by Superservice and therefore did not qualify for a discounted penalty.
Under the UK sanctions regime, providing military-related goods to Russia—directly or indirectly—remains prohibited, regardless of the intermediary countries involved.
Earlier, it was reported that US Senator Richard Blumenthal urged Congress to accelerate a new sanctions bill against Russia, calling for punitive measures of up to 500 percent rather than 100 percent tariffs.
