UK Hosts High-Stakes Security Talks With US, Ukraine, and European Allies

A meeting of national security advisers from Ukraine, the United States, and several European countries will take place in the United Kingdom on August 9, according to Sky News. The session will be chaired by UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy and US Vice President JD Vance.
The UK government press office stated that Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a phone call earlier in the day, agreed the gathering would serve as “an essential forum” to discuss progress toward achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
According to the British government, the meeting follows an online session on August 8, when Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak held talks with national security advisers from the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Finland, and NATO.
On August 8, Trump announced that the meeting with Putin will take place in Alaska on August 15, describing it as a “significant event” in US–Russia relations.
On August 9, Zelenskyy reiterated that Ukraine will not cede any territory to Russia, stating that the country’s Constitution already defines the answer to the territorial question and that “no one will deviate from it.”
