Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Kyiv is engaged in “active” talks with international partners to secure a unified stance for “a truly sustainable peace” as the deadline for Russia to agree to a ceasefire approaches, according to the post on his official Telegram channel from August 8.

“If everyone perceives opportunities and threats in the same way, it will be possible to achieve lasting peace,” Zelenskyy stated in his evening address, noting that support from allies is coming “under new conditions” linked to the announced ceasefire ultimatum.

According to the Ukrainian president, Russia has shown no sign of compliance. “Today again there were killings, Russian shelling. More than a hundred attack drones were launched overnight, and during the day there were air-dropped bombs, intense assaults on the front line, and repeated air raid alerts in our cities and communities,” he said.

Zelenskyy highlighted one incident in Kherson, where a 13-year-old boy was injured by an explosive dropped from a Russian drone.

“This is deliberate destruction of life. The Russian army has received no orders to stop,” he said, adding that Ukraine is discussing “real steps” with partners and has held “more than a dozen” conversations with heads of state and government in recent days.

“I want to thank everyone in the world who helps us—helps end the war,” the president concluded.

Earlier, it was reported that Zelenskyy used the conversation not just to reiterate a firm stance on war termination, but also to solidify unity with Western allies.

By involving multiple European leaders in the call and referencing the envoy’s dual-sided discussions, Zelenskyy underlined that Ukraine’s push for peace is both principled and supported internationally.
