The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) is set to receive the largest humanitarian convoy of emergency equipment since the start of the full-scale invasion.

30 fire and rescue vehicles and more than 15,000 pieces of specialized equipment are currently on their way to Ukraine.

According to the DSNS press service on April 8, this delivery marks the 8th humanitarian convoy organized by the UK-based charity FIRE AID in partnership with the National Fire Chiefs Council and supported by the UK Government, including the Home Office.

The convoy, coordinated through long-standing cooperation between British and Ukrainian emergency services, represents the most extensive support package delivered in the past three years.

The equipment is expected to significantly enhance the operational capacity of Ukrainian emergency responders.

In addition to providing critical equipment, FIRE AID has launched Brave Minds, a dedicated mental health initiative for Ukrainian firefighters.

The program offers 24/7 crisis support, online therapy, and tailored mental health resources to address the psychological impact of working in high-risk environments. The initiative is run in collaboration with the psychology team of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

According to FIRE AID, Brave Minds is a long-term commitment to the resilience and well-being of Ukraine’s frontline responders. The need for such support became especially evident after a recent incident in Sumy region, where one of the organization’s donated fire vehicles was damaged in a drone strike during a double-tap attack — a tactic aimed at emergency personnel.

While the crew escaped physical harm and succeeded in evacuating civilians, the psychological effects of such incidents underscore the necessity of sustained mental health care.
