Ukraine Automates Drone Delivery to Frontline Units, Cuts Wait Time to One Day

Ukraine has implemented a fully automated system for distributing drones (UAVs) to military units, significantly accelerating delivery times and improving operational planning, according to the Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov on January 16.
“Manual distribution of drones caused serious issues—duplicate requests, delayed handovers, human error, and outdated data,” the minister said. “Now, with automation, drones reach units two to three times faster—often within a single day.”

The new system, built on SAP software, digitizes the entire supply chain—from procurement to frontline delivery—offering real-time data visibility and streamlined logistics. The automation enables:
Real-time tracking of unit requests in a unified platform;
Accurate monitoring of warehouse drone inventory;
Near-instant issuance of supply orders;
Proactive planning to avoid delays or duplication.
“This means faster delivery and better planning for our troops — and greater transparency and oversight for the state,” the minister added.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine and the United Kingdom have announced the first successful test flights of OCTOPUS interceptor drones, a key component of expanding air‑defense cooperation under the historic 100‑Year Partnership agreement between the two nation.
